Steamboat’s funniest. Least-coordinated. Most-loved.
Each year, a fresh cast of local legends trades mountain boots for dance shoes, stepping onto the Strings Pavilion stage in front of a sold-out crowd, all to support Northwest Rocky Mountain CASA. They’re business owners, teachers, first responders, and familiar faces around town, ready to risk it all (including their dignity) for a cause worth celebrating. Vote early, vote often, and get ready to cheer as Steamboat’s 2026 Stars take the stage.
Every dollar donated in a Star’s name counts towards their grand total. The Star who raises the most money is the Champion.
All proceeds support CASA’s advocacy for children.

Jason Partovi
I have called Steamboat Springs home since 2018, and it has shaped who I am as a husband, father of three, and local business owner. Over the years I have had the privilege of operating several Steamboat businesses, among them Skull Creek Greek, Hypnotic Chicken, and Wild Plum. My focus has always been on creating welcoming spaces that strengthen the community. Supporting employees, fostering connection, and adding value to Steamboat’s everyday life are central to how I approach business and leadership.
Outside of work, my family and I enjoy the simple parts of living in the Yampa Valley such as skiing, biking, hiking, and the occasional camping trip. I value taking care of my health, and fitness and yoga are an important part of that.
Steamboat has given my family an incredible quality of life, and I believe strongly in giving back to the place that has supported us. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to organizations and causes that help this community continue to thrive.

Choreographer
Penny Hamilton
Penny has been blessed with a lifelong love of dance, performing and choreographing since childhood. She grew up studying dance in Australia before traveling the world, eventually landing in Steamboat in 1992 for what was meant to be a two-week visit but ended up meeting Cary, her wonderful husband and the rest is history. They have two amazing children, Max (21) and Tanner (19), who are their pride and joy.
Her passion for movement led her into the fitness industry, and for the past 12 years she has owned Power with Penny, teaching classes and offering personal training at the CrossFit gym. One of the things she loves most about Steamboat is its vibrant dance community, which she has been part of for 30 years.
Though she’s mostly hung up her dancing shoes—except for this one special night each year—Penny participates to give back. She dances for the child who didn’t have the opportunities she feels blessed to have had. This marks Penny’s 10th year supporting CASA, and she is humbled to contribute once again to this meaningful fundraiser.

Eric Abalos
There are men who live quietly, and then there was Eric Abalos. He will be remembered as a husband. Father. Musician. Comedian. Magician. Homosapian. Beautician. Aeonian. Thespian.
He was an Artist. Mixologist. Astrologist. Pianist. Anthropologist. Geographist. Science-ist. Paramotorist…. You get the gist. Eric lived a life full of adventure and curiosity.
Eric spoke 6 different languages, while not fluently in any of them, he could say “hello” in 6. His biggest legacy will be the 4th degree yellow belt in karate that he earned through lots of blood, sweat, and tears over the past 15 years. He was the visionary behind Steamboat Handyman. The best “Steamboat Handyman” in the whole entire wide world. Google it. It's true. Eric did not simply fix things; he restored balance to the universe, one slightly uneven shelf at a time.
I invite you to join in celebrating the life of Eric. He isn't dead. He just wants you to remember him and celebrate his life. He lived a good life. Rest his soul.

Rose Alford
I grew up in Pennsylvania, played tennis and loved sports and being outside. Moving to Boulder, Colorado in my early 20’s was life changing. I fell in love with everything to do with the outdoors, started my career in the outdoor industry, met my husband, Matthew Alford, through the biking community there in Boulder. We moved to Steamboat 18 years ago with our newborn son, Trout Alford, and continued our passion for outdoor activities. One of my favorite adventures was bike packing the Colorado Trail with Matt and Trout. I also love backcountry skiing, playing with my dog, and dinner parties. I now have a huge obsession with pickleball and have started an annual pickleball fundraiser for rare cancer research. I’m so honored to be a part of DWTSS and taking on the challenge of raising money for CASA. I’ve never had dance lessons, so look out! This could get interesting!
